We recently commissioned 96 of our locker solutions at the Robert Bosch Hospital (RBK). This means that RBK now has a total of 114 Zippsafe systems, making it our largest installation in Germany to date. Find out why the Stuttgart hospital decided to order Zippsafe and now continues to reorder.

Over the course of several days in the past few months, we installed 96 of our smart lockers in the central locker rooms and the sterilization changing rooms.18 Zippsafe systems had previously been placed in a rather unusual location. A year earlier, in the middle of the Corona pandemic, the hospital urgently needed changing rooms for the employees of the new vaccination center. Since there was no other suitable space, a former pool area was used. It was out of service and we were able to place our systems around the empty pool. If the vaccination center had needed more capacity, it was even discussed to use the pool area itself and create more Zippsafe locker space. In the end, this did not become reality. But the lack of space didn't seem to be limited to the immunization center. It extended throughout the entire hospital.

"Due to the addition of the Schillerhöhe Clinic to the main RBK site, we were faced with capacity bottlenecks. Additional space was only available to a limited extent. Thanks to the space-saving system, we were able to increase our capacity without opening up additional space for it."

Before Zippsafe, the men's and women's central locker rooms were equipped with 30 cm wide lockers including electronic locks. It is well known that these require up to 70% more space than our solution. To achieve maximum capacity, the lockers were replaced with ZippSpace systems without our typical bench. By eliminating the bench, an additional 23 cm can be saved per row, creating maximum capacity.

"In one of our locker rooms, we were able to increase the number of lockers from 400 to 1010 - that was quite impressive."

Fabian Krüger, Deputy Technical Manager

No less than 1,630 RBK employees now use Zippsafe's smart locker solution. According to our square meter calculator, this has enabled us to save 652 m2 of locker room space.

The systems are managed offline. In order to keep track and maintain an overview of the locker room spaces, the hospital initially takes care of the allocation and management of the units independently. Should this activity take up too much time, the management can be digitized at a later stage by using the Zippsafe Management System and our "ZippManager” software.

"The communication and support on the part of Zippsafe is to be positively emphasized from the beginning of the project. Important questions regarding fire protection and the workplace ordinance as well as hygienic specifications could be solved to our satisfaction."

The Robert Bosch Hospital seems to be convinced by our solution. The hospital decided to use Zippsafe as the standard equipment in their locker rooms. Already more systems are planned in the upcoming new building. We are happy about this decision and extremely excited to see how the largest installation in Germany will continue to grow.
