The year 2024 started with a change of scenery at Zippsafe. We moved our Swiss headquarters from Glattbrugg to Schlieren. After more than five years at the same location, we were running out of space and quickly found what we were looking for. The new office on the 6th floor offers a wide view as well as more space, workstations and meeting rooms. The conditions for further growth are therefore in place.
We have grown in many different ways in 2024. Our team is getting bigger and bigger and now numbers 67 people. We are delighted to have welcomed 22 new Zippers in the last 12 months. As usual, we have also been able to expand our customer base. 45 additional companies are benefiting from our smart locker systems. One of them is the CHU de Reims. At the beginning of the year, we carried out one of the largest installations to date at the French university hospital. Over the course of two weeks, we placed 153 systems in eight locker rooms. By purchasing our locker systems, the hospital has saved a whole 500 m2 . The CHU de Reims thus accounts for the largest share of the 3,000 m2 we saved in 2024 through the installation of 1111 systems. To give you a better idea, this area is equivalent to 68 tennis courts. We think that's pretty impressive, don't you?
We have also saved a few square meters here in Switzerland. We had the honor of furnishing the employee locker rooms of the new children's hospital in Zurich. There are now 77 of our locker systems in the new building complex designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron.
Another major installation took place in the neighboring canton of Aargau. The Baden Cantonal Hospital (KSB) chose Zippsafe to equip its new building. We were also able to record another milestone in our company history with KSB 2024. Over the past few years, we have worked with KSB to develop our latest innovation, Zipp & Scan, a secure and efficient solution for handling patient property during same-day surgeries or emergency operations. The product consists of a physical and a digital component. The textile bag called ZippBag is used to transport the items brought along and offers space for a carry-on suitcase. The valuables are documented using the associated ZippScan app. After a few development loops, the innovation is ready for the market.
We carried out a pilot at KSB to make the final adjustments. 50 bags and the app were put through their paces by employees. The pilot was successful, which means that 800 bags will be used in the new building. We look forward to many more hospitals benefiting from this innovation in the future.
In addition to growing within the Swiss market, we are working diligently on international expansion. To raise our profile, in 2024 we were represented at 16 trade shows in 10 countries. Wherever we do not rely on active sales, we collaborate with sales partners. We were also able to further expand this network. We could gain partners in Slovenia, the Baltic States and Qatar.
The expansion was not only of a territorial nature. We are winning more and more customers outside the healthcare sector, where we have been most strongly represented to date. More companies from the food production, industrial and hotel sectors are now benefiting from Zippsafe. We were able to equip well-known companies such as Deutsche Bahn, Kaufland Fleischwaren, Confiserie Sprüngli, Grand Hotel Des Bains Kempinski and the SO/Berlin Das Stue Hotel with new locker rooms.
To round off this exciting year, we finished it with a very spectacular installation. Two of our locker systems now stand in the middle of the beautiful Swiss mountain panorama. These can be used on the Engstligenalp near the mountain village of Adelboden. The units were dismantled into their individual parts and transported to the mountain station by gondola. This was not the easiest commissioning, but our strong team overcame this difficulty with ease. We are taking this enthusiasm with us into 2025 and are excited to see how Zippsafe will continue to develop this year.
