Karlsruhe Municipal Hospital
Karlsruhe Municipal Hospital is equipping its new building with additional 40 ZippSpace systems, creating 580 spaces. Now benefiting from optimized digital management via the Zippsafe Management System, the new locker bags can be managed easily and efficiently via the ZippManager, Zippsafe's innovative software.
What challenges did the Städtisches Klinikum Karlsruhe face?
As the largest hospital in the region with over 4,300 employees, the clinic required a substantial expansion of its locker capacities during the construction of the new "Haus M" building. During the planning phase, the required capacity increased from an initial 400 to 700 spaces. The main challenge was to achieve this massive expansion within the available floor area while efficiently managing the administrative workload and preventing unused lockers ("ghost lockers") across such a large workforce.
Why did the hospital choose Zippsafe?
Following a successful pilot installation in spring 2020, Zippsafe won the contract due to its exceptional space efficiency, which made the scaling up to 700 spaces possible in the first place. Another key argument was the digital management software: the Zippsafe Management System (ZMS) with its user-friendly ZippManager interface allows effortless locker assignment, identifies unused bags, and optimizes cleaning workflows when staff depart. Additionally, the ability to integrate ZMS seamlessly into the existing Siemens SIPORT access control system via API was a decisive factor.

"With Zippsafe, we were able to increase our capacity and at the same time install a locker room solution that is easy to manage."

How does Zippsafe meet the hospital's requirements?
The hospital equipped the new building with 40 ZippSpace systems, creating 700 modern locker spaces. Administrative management runs digitally and efficiently from the desktop thanks to the ZippManager.
Through the planned API integration with SIPORT, employee onboarding and offboarding will be automatically synchronized, eliminating manual data imports and driving digital transformation in the locker rooms.
